Hello Method Snowboard Academy Family!
Here is a quick note with some details about this weekend, November 23 and 24th, 2013. We will be meeting at Peak 9, Beaver Run base area, inside the Coppertop Cafeteria, between 8:30 and 9am both mornings. This will be our meeting location for the rest of the season’s training days.
We are working out the best fit for the groups so far, and with the help of our new coach Mike McKellar, it’s shaping up to be a great season for Method Coaches and Athletes alike! Keep an eye out for more info about Mike, and details about upcoming contests and training days.
As for our Peak 9 meeting location, if you haven’t used it before, there’s a drop-off location where you can pull your car in, and drop off or pick up passengers, but you’re not allowed to leave your car unattended there. It’s on the uphill side of the building, on your left as you come up the hill. You may be able to park for a short period if you need to come in and see us, by using either the pay lot or hotel check-in areas on the downhill side of the building.
Please see the map below to help you find your way.
While it’s super-fun to go out and ride during the early-season, we do need to take it easy. Fun and caution are not mutually exclusive. This article in the Summit Daily points out that getting back into peak performance and the comfort level of the previous season takes time and warm-up days.
Method Academy’s new coach, Mike McKellar, took a couple quick photos the other day, during the second training day of the season for our athletes. Breck was able to attract 15 inches of new snow in 48 hours, and the ski area opened Contest Bowl to hiking access.
Method athletes are not likely to back away from some steep freeriding, so the crew took to the hike and enjoyed the powder as a crew. Click the photos to enlarge!
This is Grants season from 2012/13, there is a mix of park and street. Hope you enjoy!
